In 1859, the world was primed for a chaotic change. He explained that the diversity of life came about through a continuous change in life all over the Earth. He called this phenomenon evolution by natural selection and offered myriad examples to prove it. In writing this book, he set off a wave of change which has led to the formation of several fields of science including genetics, biotechnology and evolutionary theory.
