About the translator, Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani
Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani was born in 1943 in Deoband, in present-day Uttar Pradesh, and is the son of Mufti Muhammad Shafi (RH), the well-known author of the tafsir Maariful Quran. He has taught hadith and fiqh at Darul Uloom Karachi for decades, and served as a judge of the Shariat Appellate Bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan from 1982 to 2002. He has produced translations of the Qur’an with explanatory notes in both Urdu and English; his Urdu work, Tauzeeh al-Qur’an, is known for a simple, flowing translation that ordinary readers can follow. That clarity is why his translation is a popular choice for a Roman Urdu edition.
