The book covers the events in Greg’s life during the later half of seventh grade. Greg is mortified when his father, impressed by a transformed nasty teenager, Lenwood Heath, who turned decent after attending a military school, decides to send Greg as well. Greg tries hard to distract his father from such terrifying prospects by talking incessantly about soccer and boy scouts. The book shows how an embarrassing incident leads to his father being grateful to him and allowing him to continue his studies in school.
