Stories of Repentance | Muhammad Abduh Mughawiri | Tawbah in Islam Book
A compiled collection of true accounts of tawbah (repentance) — people who turned back to Allah after sin, heedlessness or a life far from the deen
Draws on the sayings of the Salaf, including Al-Hasan al-Basri, alongside Qur’anic verses and hadith on Allah’s mercy and forgiveness
Short, self-contained chapters — easy to read one story at a time, ideal for daily reminders or family reading
Written to soften the heart and remove despair: a reminder that the door of repentance stays open as long as there is life
English translation, paperback; Arabic text included for quoted verses and narrations
Description
Stories of Repentance is a collection of narratives about people who changed direction — sinners, the heedless, and the distracted — and found that Allah’s mercy was waiting for them.
Compiled by Muhammad Abduh Mughâwiri, the book gathers accounts from the lives of the Companions, the Salaf and the generations after them, along with the words of scholars like Al-Hasan al-Basri, who urged people to hurry to repentance before the agonies of death overtake them, reminding readers that everything coming is near at hand and death is the one appointment nobody arrives late for.
Each story stands on its own, making the book easy to read in short sittings. The tone throughout is one of hope rather than fear — the aim is to remove the despair that keeps a person from turning back, and to show that no sin is too large for Allah’s forgiveness.
Suitable for personal reading, halaqah discussion, gifting, or reading aloud with family. English text with Arabic quotations.
