About Muhazirat E Fiqh

Muhazirat E Fiqh is an Urdu collection of lectures by Dr. Mahmood Ahmad Ghazi (RH) on Islamic jurisprudence, its history and its principles. If you are looking for a readable Urdu introduction that explains how fiqh began, how it developed through the centuries and why it still matters today, Muhazirat E Fiqh is a strong choice for students and general readers alike. Please message us on WhatsApp at 9906523492 for details of the copy in stock, including the publisher and number of pages.

The book is part of the well-known Muhazirat (Muhadarat) series, in which the author presented lectures on the main Islamic sciences in a clear and organised style. Because the material began as spoken lectures, the language is direct and easy to follow, and readers do not need a madrasa background to benefit from it.

About the author, Dr. Mahmood Ahmad Ghazi (RH)

Dr. Mahmood Ahmad Ghazi was born on 13 September 1950 in Kandhla, Uttar Pradesh, India, and passed away in Islamabad on 26 September 2010. He studied the traditional Dars-e-Nizami syllabus, completing it in 1966, and later earned master’s degrees in Arabic and Persian and a PhD from the University of the Punjab, Lahore, in 1988. He taught at the International Islamic University, Islamabad, served as Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and was appointed a judge of the Federal Shariat Court in 2010. He was fluent in several languages, including Urdu, English, Arabic and Persian, and wrote around thirty books and many articles. May Allah have mercy on him.

What the Muhazirat E Fiqh lectures cover

  • A survey of the field of fiqh, from its origins in the time of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and his Companions to the present day
  • How the science of Islamic jurisprudence took shape and how the schools of thought developed
  • The sources and principles on which rulings are based
  • The place of fiqh in the life of the Muslim community and its relevance to modern questions

Why Muhazirat E Fiqh is worth reading

Many people hear the word fiqh only in connection with a single ruling on prayer, fasting or trade. This book steps back and shows the whole picture: where the discipline came from, who built it, and how scholars across generations worked to understand the commands of Allah Almighty and apply them to changing circumstances. Understanding this history makes a reader more respectful of scholarly differences and less likely to treat every disagreement as a quarrel. It also helps students see why asking qualified scholars is part of a healthy religious life.

The lectures were delivered by a man who combined traditional training with modern university education and practical experience in law and public service. That background gives the discussion a balance that many readers find valuable: loyalty to the inherited tradition, together with an awareness of the questions that Muslims face today.

Who should read Muhazirat E Fiqh

  • Students of Islamic Studies at college and university level who want an Urdu overview of fiqh
  • Madrasa students and graduates who wish to revise the history of the discipline
  • Teachers and preachers who need a clear framework for explaining jurisprudence to others
  • General readers who want to understand how Islamic rulings are derived
  • Researchers and students in law who are curious about the Islamic legal tradition

How to benefit from the book

Read one lecture at a time and keep a notebook beside you. After each chapter, write down in your own words the main idea, the names of the scholars mentioned and any term you did not know. Revise those notes after a week. If you study in a group, take turns summarising a lecture aloud, since explaining a topic to others is one of the best ways to remember it. Where a point touches on a practical ruling in your own life, ask a trustworthy scholar instead of relying on a single reading. Keep sending salawat upon Prophet Muhammad ﷺ as you study, and ask Allah to grant you sound understanding.

Part of a wider Muhazirat set

Readers who enjoy this volume often continue with the other books of the series, including Muhazirat E Shariat and Muhazirat E Seerat, both of which are also available at Lafz Bookstore. Together they give a broad, well-organised picture of Islamic law and the life of the Prophet ﷺ in Urdu.
