About Sahih Islami Aqaid

Sahih Islami Aqaid (Sharah Aqeedah Al Wasitiyyah) – Urdu is an Urdu explanation of Al-Aqidah Al-Wasitiyyah, one of the best known short statements of creed in the Sunni tradition. The original text was written by Shaykh-ul-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (RH), and an explanation in Urdu makes its ideas available to readers who want to study Sahih Islami Aqaid, that is, correct Islamic beliefs, in their own language. Please message us on WhatsApp at 9906523492 for details of the copy in stock, including the name of the commentator, the publisher and the number of pages.

Belief comes before everything else in Islam. Prayer, fasting, charity and good character all rest on a sound understanding of who Allah is, what He has told us about Himself, and what we must believe about the angels, the books, the messengers, the Last Day and divine decree. This book is meant to help the reader build that foundation step by step.

The story behind Al-Aqidah Al-Wasitiyyah

Ibn Taymiyyah (RH) wrote the Wasitiyyah around the year 1297 CE. According to the accounts recorded about the text, a judge from the region of Wasit in Iraq, a Shafi’i scholar named Radi al-Din al-Wasiti, asked him for a clear creed that he and his household could rely on. He described how ignorance and decline in religious knowledge had spread in his time. Ibn Taymiyyah (RH) first suggested that he follow a creed already written by one of the early imams of the Sunnah, but the judge insisted on one from Ibn Taymiyyah (RH) himself. The result was a compact text that soon travelled to Egypt, Iraq and beyond, and scholars have been explaining it ever since.

What this Sahih Islami Aqaid book covers

An explanation of the Wasitiyyah walks the reader through the main areas of Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jama’ah belief. Among the topics treated in the original text are:

  • The names and attributes of Allah, affirmed as Allah and His Messenger ﷺ affirmed them, without twisting their meaning, denying them, asking how they are, or comparing Allah to His creation
  • The six articles of faith: belief in Allah, the angels, the revealed books, the messengers, the Last Day and divine decree
  • The meaning of Iman and the teaching that it includes statement, belief and action
  • The events of the Hereafter, including the reckoning, the scales, intercession, Paradise and the Fire
  • The belief that the believers will see their Lord on the Day of Resurrection
  • Love and respect for the Companions of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and the duty to speak of them with good words
  • Good conduct, enjoining what is right and forbidding what is wrong, and the middle path of Ahl al-Sunnah between extremes

Why correct Islamic beliefs matter

The Qur’an and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ are the only sources from which a Muslim takes his creed. The idea behind the Wasitiyyah is simple: affirm what Allah has said about Himself in His Book and what His Messenger ﷺ has said about Him, and stop where the revelation stops. This protects the heart from two dangers, one being to strip Allah of His attributes, and the other being to describe Him as if He were like His creation. Readers who study this subject with a trustworthy teacher often find that their worship becomes calmer and more sincere, because they know Whom they are worshipping.

Who should read this book

  • Students of Islamic studies and madrasa students who want a reliable text on creed in Urdu
  • Teachers and imams preparing lessons on Aqidah
  • Young people who are curious about what Muslims believe and why
  • Parents who wish to teach their children sound beliefs at home
  • Readers of Urdu who wish to move from basic books to a classical creed text with explanation

How to benefit from the book

Read a short portion at a time and keep a notebook for the verses and hadith that are cited. Look up the references in a translation of the Qur’an so that every point is tied to its evidence. Revise each chapter before moving to the next, because the topics build on one another. If a question arises that the book does not settle for you, take it to a qualified scholar instead of guessing. Study in a group if you can; creed is learned best when it is discussed with sincerity, humility and respect for Allah and His Messenger ﷺ.
