How to get the most from the book

Read with a notebook beside you. When a verse or idea stands out, write it down and note what it means in your own words. Pair the reading with a collection of Iqbal’s poetry so that you can turn to the original verse whenever the book refers to it. If a passage is difficult, read it again slowly, and discuss it with a teacher or friend. Reading in short, regular sessions helps ideas settle. Whenever the name of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ comes up, send salawat upon him, as Iqbal himself held him in the highest love.
