Galsworthy dealt with the hardships and sufferings of the underdog and advocated for reaching social reforms. In Justice, he realistically portrayed the plight of William Falder, who is sentenced to long imprisonment for forgery and who undergoes extreme mental anguish in prison. When he comes out, he is not able to rehabilitate himself in society because he is an ex-convict. Consequently, he commits suicide. This critical study, originally prepared by Dr. Raghukul Tilak, has been thoroughly revised, edited and updated by Prof. Shakti Batra.
